In a DC circuit, current is driven by the built-in electric field in the p-n junction, causing a unidirectional current to flow from N to P, unlike the conventional normal channel PN junction diodes. To be specific, when voltage is applied in the positive direction, the current reaches a high value, and the diode enters the forward working state and resistance decreases greatly. In conditions such as no voltage or reverse voltage of the diode, the diode enters the rear-working state, and resistance increases to an extremely large value which prevents backflow of current. This continuous working process plays an important role in the conversion of AC voltage to DC voltage.
