The SE50PAD-M3/I is a 50 amp single-phase bridge rectifier, with the function of rectification, suitable for use in wide range of AC input voltage applications, such as rated for 93 - 264 VAC, and High ESD level 2kV. The circuit structure of the SE50PAD-M3/I is quite simple: it consists of two M3A50A chips and two diodes. Each M3A50A chip is a three-phase rectifier bridge made up of 6 IGBTs for rectification. The two diodes work as freewheeling diode, protecting the power module when the M3A50A stop conduction. And the heat-sink of this module serves to keep the chip junction temperatures in desired range.

After AC input has been rectified by the M3A50A, the DC output goes to two IGBTs in the series, whose one is high voltage IGBT, and the other is low voltage IGBT. The high voltage IGBT can prevent AC input voltage spike entering the circuitry, while the low voltage IGBT can prevent current high but voltage low, which both can provide better protection for the whole SE50PAD-M3/I module.

Talking about the working principle, at first the AC input voltage passes through the semiconductor and the two diodes, then gets rectified by the M3A50A chips and eventually generates DC output. Though performing rectification, the SE50PAD-M3/I can also protect the connected load from overvoltage, overcurrent and short circuit in some cases. It also helps to eliminate power factor issues that can cause instability of the grid.
