The SI53306-B-GM is a clock buffer/driver from Silicon Labs and is memberof their “Clock Jitter Attenuator” family. It is a low jitter, integratedPLL and clock conditioner device intended for applications requiringclock synchronization, distribution and jitter attenuation. It isdesigned for high performance clock frequency distribution, and canprovide extremely low additive jitter of <0.1 UI from a referenceclock. It is packed in a 16-pin 2mm package and is a very attractiveoption for multiple clock applications.The SI53306-B-GM mainly finds its application in Industrial, Medical,Autonomous Driving, and Avionics/Military applications wherehigh-frequency clock precision and low jitter are required. It is alsoideally suited for digital, high frequency clock distribution andinter-board synchronization.The working principle of the SI53306-B-GM is based on the use of itsintegrated PLL circuit. This circuit is used to synchronize inputfrequency with the reference frequency. The internal Phase-Locked Loop(PLL) circuit utilizes a loop filter to obtain low jitter operation.The PLL consists of programmable VCO frequency, charge pump current,and loop filter. VCO frequency is controlled by the output from thecharge pump and the loop filter, and is fed back to the PLL frequencydivision to maintain a constant output frequency.The SI53306-B-GM has a wide operating frequency range from 180MHz upto 960MHz, making it suited for a variety of applications. It canoperate at both low-frequency and high-frequency clock sources, andalso supports low-voltage operation down to 1.2V. It has a maximumfrequency stability of 5 ppm (Typical) over temperature and voltageranges. It is rated at -40degC to +85degC, and has a 12KV HBM ESDhuman body model rating.The device also features a variety of output options, including LVDS,LVPECL, and HCSL output formats. This makes it well suited forapplications where differential voltage outputs are used to reduceredundant wiring. It also integrates a galvanic isolation component,offering excellent ground loop immunity on the output side. Thisisolated component enables signal integrity and signal signal integrityacross multiple grounds.Overall, the SI53306-B-GM is an excellent choice for applicationsrequiring low jitter, clock frequency distribution, andsynchronization. Its wide frequency range, high frequency stability,output formats and integrated galvanic isolation component make itideally suited for high-end clocks applications such as Industrial,Medical, Autonomous Driving, and Avionics/Military.
