Working Principle of the SJ6012DRP

When the control gate voltage is lower than the value of the breakover voltage, the SCR will remain in a non-conductive state. But, beyond the breakover voltage, the thyristor will conduct electricity until the current passing through it decreases to the latching current.

In other words, the thyristor is triggered when the control gate voltage is higher than the breakover voltage. In this case, the gate current will pass through the SCR and get absorbed by the cathodes. This enables a controllable blocking or conducting element.

Another important parameter of an SCR is the holding current. This parameter determines the lowest current required to make sure the SCR stays in the conductive state until the control gate voltage drops below the breakover voltage again.

A notable feature of an SCR is the ability to maintain a good regulation of the current. The current regulation with the SJ6012DRP is precise and smooth, and it protects the load from sudden drops or increases in current.
