Thyristors, also known as silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs), are four-layer, three-terminal semiconductor switching devices primarily used in AC power control applications. Although thyristors are not as commonly used today as they were in the past, they still find application in many industrial and consumer electronics products, such as motor and lighting control, servers and other computer systems, appliances, DC-DC converters, battery chargers, and welding systems. The SJ6020RTP thyristor is a three-terminal, gate-controlled SCR that is available with different ratings and package sizes.

The SJ6020RTP thyristor is a single-phase device typically used in AC power control applications where high currents (up to 60 A) are required.
