Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, also known as electrolytic capacitors or polarized capacitors, are a kind of electric double layer capacitors, mainly composed of an aluminum foil, on which a layer of aluminum oxide is formed, acting as a dielectric, and a wound paper or plastic film as the other electrode. Electrolytic capacitors are widely used in different kinds of electronic devices, such as power supplies, TVs, radios, computers, etc.

The SLP822M080H9P3 is an aluminium electrolytic capacitor with an extended temperature range of -55°C to +105°C and a low profile of only 1.5mm high. With 105°C of rated temperature and an 85V voltage rating, the capacitance range of the SLP822M080H9P3 starts at 1uF and goes up to 220uF, providing a wide range of capacitance values to choose from. The SLP822M080H9P3 is well suited for a wide range of applications such as motor control, power supply circuits, stepping motor driver circuits, automotive electronic control systems, as well as for many other electronics solutions.

The working principle of the SLP822M080H9P3 which applies to all aluminium electrolytic capacitors, is based on the Faraday principle, proved by English scientist Michael Faraday in 1831. Faraday\'s law states that when a conductor is located within a changing magnetic field, an induced electric current is generated. This induced current provides the current flow between the two electrodes, which are separated by a layer of dielectric.

When a voltage is applied to the capacitor, current flows between the electrodes and an electric field is created which causes electrons to flow from one electrode to the other. As a result, charge is stored between the two electrodes and a capacitance value is established. This forms a layer of aluminium oxide on the aluminium foil and forms the dielectric of the capacitor.
