TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) Diodes, also known as “Transient Voltage Suppressors”, are widely used for protection purposes against voltage transients (sudden voltage surges) in transmission lines, such as from lightning discharges, during ground faults, or other electrostatic discharges. A typical TVS diode works by clamping the voltage to a predetermined level. When the voltage reaches its preset level, the diode will quickly limit the voltage to the preset level, thus preventing the occurrence of overvoltage faults.
The SMB10J13AHM4G is an advanced TVS diode offering excellent transient protection from high energy electrical surges. It features a fast response time of typically 50 ns, and is easily mounted due to its very small form factor of 1.27mm x 0.5mm, and a low profile of 0.6mm high. The diode is capable of withstanding up to 2.5kW of transient power dissipation, making it suitable for many high power applications.
