The SP310EET-L/TR is a bidirectional ECL-to-CMOS level shifter designed to manage the interface between two CMOS devices and ECL packages. There are various applications utilizing this type of device such as clock drivers, bidirectional analog switch drivers, power controllers and memory expanders. Utilizing the technology of dual logic families, the SP310EET-L/TR is ideal for interfacing ECL logic families and CMOS. This integrated circuit (IC) is operational over the temperature range of -55°C to +150°C.
When used as a driver, the SP310EET-L/TR is best suited for applications that require a drive capability greater than usual ECL outputs. This device is especially useful in short line lengths, where a complimentary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) device cannot provide an output of sufficient current to drive the load. It is also ideal for driving high-speed logic and transistionse of relatively low power.
When used as a receiver, the SP310EET-L/TR level shifter has the ability to separate noise from valid signals. The common mode input range of 0V to -3V eliminates the need for external components such as Schottky diode networks or resistors in order to provide the appropriate high level thresholds for CMOS logic levels. The receiver\'s capability to accept 0V through -3V signals ensures that noise pulses coming from fast transers such as ECL logic can be rejected, while valid signals with lower thresholds are recognized.
When used as a transceiver, the SP310EET-L/TR provides a fast and effective interface between two Chip Select outputs (CS0, CS1), allowing dynamic control of the flow input/output signals. The device offers ultra-fast switching times ranging between 3ns and 10ns, depending on the mode employed. The CS0 output provides an enable/disable control signal for the transmitter, while the CS1 output allows for enable/disable control in the receiver stage. The device is compatible with both 3.3V and 5V supply sources.
