The SP3130-01WTG TVS Diode is a transient voltage supressor (TVS) device used to protect electronic circuits from electrical transients. It is suitable for use in a wide range of applications where protection from transient voltage events is required.

The SP3130-01WTG uses a novel trench isolation structure and polycarbonate body package which enable it to have low clamping voltage and ultra low leakage current characteristics.

The device is suitable for use in applications such as automotive, industrial, medical, communications, and consumer electronics. The active layer of the device is made from silicon, which is an excellent semiconductor material that is suitable for high-speed operation and has excellent performance characteristics. The polycarbonate body package protects the silicon from exposure to harsh environmental conditions.

The SP3130-01WTG has an operating voltage of 15V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It is available in a variety of package sizes from 0402 to 0805. The device has peak on-state voltage of 45V and an off-state leakage current of 5μA.

The working principle of the SP3130-01WTG is based on the concept of avalanche breakdown. Avalanche breakdown occurs when a high-energy electric field is applied across an insulation layer in a semiconductor material. This causes electrons to flow in the form of an avalanche, which breaks down the insulation layer and allows current to flow through the device.

The high-energy electric field is created when the voltage applied across the terminals of the device exceeds its breakdown voltage. The voltage and current characteristics are then determined by the internal structure and properties of the device.

Once the high-energy electric field is applied, an avalanche current flows through the device, which causes the applied voltage to be clamped. The SP3130-01WTG has a clamping voltage of 15V, meaning that once the voltage applied across the terminals exceeds 15V the device will begin to conduct current and the voltage will be clamped at 15V. This prevents excessive current flowing through the device and protecting it from being damaged.
