TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diodes are an integral part of today’s electronics circuit designs and the SP3118-01WTG is an exemplary model. Working Principle

The working principle behind this model is quite simple. This allows the device to act as a voltage-limiting device, preventing the circuit from being damaged by overvoltage or transients.

As the voltage increases, the SP3118-01WTG begins to conduct. When the voltage reaches its peak, the voltage across the device is limited to the breakdown voltage. At this point, the device begins to clamp the voltage, preventing it from exceeding the breakdown voltage and thus protecting the circuit components.
