The working principle behind the SS494B-SP magnetic sensor is quite simple. When the device is exposed to a magnetic field, its internal Hall-effect elements produce a minute electric current proportional to the strength of the magnetic field. This electric current is read and calibrated by the integrated circuit inside the chip, and sent out as a voltage signal proportional to the strength of the magnetic field.
This voltage signal can then be read and interpreted by an appropriate microcontroller or other processor-controlled device. In addition to providing basic information such as the angle of the magnetic field, this data can be used to provide more detailed and precise navigation measurements, such as relative position, heading, and drift rate, as well as 3-dimensional mapping information.
