The SS496B-T2 is an integrated magnetic sensor. It is a linear, compass type IC that makes use of Hall effect technology to measure auto-coupled three-Axis magnetic field strength. This sensor is application and cost-effective. It is small and can be easily embedded onto a printed circuit board for use in a variety of applications.

The SS496B-T2 is composed of a three-Axis Hall element and an Output amplifier IC. The Hall element is an integrated Hall effect Silicon chip. It consists of four or more Hall elements that couple an applied magnetic field, thus it can be used to determine the relative magnitude and direction of the applied magnetic field at a given location.

The Output amplifier IC consists of an on-chip amplifier. It is designed to amplify the output signal of the Hall element and give the user a linear, accurate output voltage over a wide range of magnetic fields. The output amplifier has three differential outputs: X, Y and Z; each corresponding to one axis.

The SS496B-T2 primarily finds usage in applications such as navigation systems, automation systems, robotics applications, human machine interfaces (HMIs) and magnetic recognition systems. In these applications, the SS496B-T2 is used to measure linear and magnetic fields in a given direction and convert it to a linear output for easy detection.

The SS496B-T2 works by using the Hall effect principle. The Hall effect is a phenomenon in which a voltage is induced across a conductor when a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to it. As the magnetic field strength increases, the induced voltage increases proportionally.
