The STEVAL-ISA019V3 is a wide input voltage three-output flyback converter evaluation board. The board is based on the VIPer22A secondary-side controller, the NCL30070 High Voltage Power Switch and a pair of DIACs.

The STEVAL-ISA019V3 is designed to provide a dynamically variable output voltage for a range of outputs from 0.8 V to 10 V from a wide input voltage range (84 VAC to 264 VAC). The application field includes industrial lighting, LED lighting and industrial equipment with short-term, low-power operations. Two other LED-dedicated outputs are also available in addition to the main output.

The main working principle of the STEVAL-ISA019V3 is based on the technique of loosely regulating the output voltage. For the input voltage, the board includes a diode bridge rectifier input stage, an EMI filter, and a primary-side double-mounted transformer with a 2 O turn ratio. A capacitor-diode voltage doubler circuit serves as the power supply for the ICs, with the generated capacitance considering both the EMI filter values and the voltage regulator loop gain.

The control side includes the VIPer22A, which is an advanced offline CV/CC controller providing an extended level of integration, improving system size, stability, and cost. The IC offers a user-configurable dynamic loop gain, which provides flexible solution in case of dynamic lighting load requirements. The output voltage is further enhanced by the VC pin and is kept in a stable state thanks to an internal linear regulator. The output voltage is externally adjustable through a voltage divider.

Through its combination of components, the STEVAL-ISA019V3 presents several advantages over conventional AC/DC applications, such as a wide input voltage range, integrated protection for load current, output overvoltage, and protection against open loops. Moreover, its design is optimized to reduce electromagnetic emission levels.
