The STEVAL-ISA028V1 device is a versatile representative of Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. This device is designed to provide a high-level of current and voltage stability, meet the requirements of the most challenging applications and enable designers to quickly and easily evaluate basic power-supply parameters. It also features fully-isolated PFC/PWM functionality, and allows the user to regulate a wide range of off-line outputs.
The STEVAL-ISA028V1 device comes equipped with a wide range of features that make it an ideal choice for many demanding applications. It offers a high switching frequency of up to 66 kHz that allows for rapid transient response and improved efficiency. In addition, the device has a simple graphical user interface (GUI), enabling easy parameterization. It also offers the possibility of parallel or multiple digital outputs, with up to twelve Power Numerics and twelve HomeNexors.
In operation, the device employs a full-bridge power converter arrangement, fed by a single stage rectifier circuit. The PFC/PWM control is implemented using a discrete PFC/PWM controller and is capable of supplying a high degree of power-supply accuracy. Additionally, the device is capable of providing a wide range of output configuration options, including switching DC/DC decoupled voltage regulators, multiple DC/DC converters, and fully isolated PFC/PWM outputs. To enable these options, the STEVAL-ISA028V1 device makes use of digital signal process (DSP)-based control algorithms.
The device also features an integrated microcontroller that enables a range of advanced features, including programmable over-current and over-voltage protection, protection against short circuit, and a watchdog timer. Other features include support for dual-rail voltage programming, RS485 communication port, and a USB port. Additionally, the device is well suited for use in harsh environmental conditions, providing an operating temperature range of -20 to +70 degC.
In addition to providing an enhanced level of power-supply accuracy and stability, the STEVAL-ISA028V1 device is easy to use and configure. The color graphic LCD interface can be used to configure the device and monitor various parameters, such as the input voltage, output voltage, output current, temperature, and operating frequency. The device also features a range of user-programmable parameters, including the switching frequency, reference voltage, duration of over-current and over-voltage protection, and the low voltage output shutdown delay.
