The STEVAL-ISA035V1 evaluation board is a static converter module designed to step-down single-phase mains voltage to produce output voltages ranging from 5 V to 48 V. The STEVAL-ISA035V1 is a non-isolated DC/DC converter featuring synchronous rectification. Its architecture consists of two phases in a half-bridges, each integrated with a primary side MOSFET and a rectification side MOSFET, with an integrated current sense amplifier. The device uses voltage-mode control for improved dynamic response. Its low quiescent current accounts for improved efficiency and low standby power while consuming minimal power when no load is connected.

The board has an internal MOSFET driver which is controlled by a 10-bit PWM signal that is adjusted from an internal oscillator, whose frequency can be varied externally up to 800 Hz. This allows the selection of the switching frequency based on the requirements of the application. It also has an integrated thermal protection feature that monitors both the temperature of the power switches and the die temperature, and prevents damage caused by excessive temperatures.

In addition, STEVAL-ISA035V1 offers feature such as a configurable soft start and a low battery lockout that prevents the board from starting up when the output voltage is too low. The internal power factor corrector ensures that the current flows through the device properly, as well as meeting ENERGY STAR® requirements.

The board\'s thermal protection circuit also includes a thermal shut-down feature that will shut down the board if the temperature is too high. A self-resetting protective foldback feature reduces the power output when current and temperature levels exceed the specified limits. Power good indicator LED’s beside the output connector indicate the level of power coming from the board.
