The STEVAL-ISA109V2’s standard input power is shown in the figure. The device’s primary input voltage is a line voltage of between 100 Vac/dc to 265 Vac/dc. A separate winding of the transformer is connected to the secondary side of the primary input voltage, and is connected to a rectifier circuit consisting of four fully-controlled, high-efficiency, solid-state switches. The rectified output voltage is used to control a power converter that can deliver regulated outputs from 3.3 V/dc to 25 V/dc depending on the model required.

The power converter is further equipped with active clamps and desaturation detection ( DCSD ). The former is used to detect the presence of an over-voltage condition on each phase of the converter, whereas DCSD is used to detect any kind of saturation on the primary and the secondary of the converter. The output voltage of the power converter can also be set in a fully dynamic range by using the integrated Analog Pilot Loop ( APL ). The APL feature allows the user to control the output voltage of the converter by command from an external digital controller.

The STEVAL-ISA109V2 also includes a variety of other features, such as an adjustable switching frequency, power good indicating output, protection against short-circuits and overvoltage, and system fault management. In addition, various optional features are available, such as a dedicated output for powering a secondary circuit and an integrated DCDM (Dynamic Current Demagnetization) circuit.
