The STEVAL-TLL009V1 evaluation board is a reference design for constant current applications with flyback topology, based on STGPCS82B and HVLED44C. It is dedicated to drive up to 6 LEDs at 350 mA from a 140 V AC input and is suitable for dry and humid location.

Application Field

STEVAL-TLL009V1 is suitable for applications where a high efficiency and low cost LED driver solution is required for low-power LED lighting applications. It can be used for downlight, spotlights and even for LED strip lighting applications. The LED driver is designed to provide a constant current output of 350 mA.

Working Principle

The STEVAL-TLL009V1 board works on flyback topology. The flyback controller IC is a high voltage switchmode PFC, the STGPCS82B, designed to control and manage the energy flow from the AC connected to the LEDs. An auxiliary transformer is used to ensure a constant, low-ripple output current. The main diode bridge is composed of a 3-phase bridge mounted with a reverse biased diode bridge.

The LED driver also includes a digitally calibrated LED current drive stage, the HVLED44C. A constant LED current of 350 mA is provided regardless of the LED voltage variation. The LED driver board also includes a two-channel programmable LED driver, the STGE25E. It provides a constant current drive to two parallel LEDs.
