The STM706PM6F is a “PMIC-Supervisor” integrated circuit that finds application in several embedded system applications. This IC is capable of robust voltage regulation, device reset maintenance and system level safety features that make it the IC of choice in several industries. The overall work of the PMIC-Supervisor includes controlling the power supply, monitoring the system voltage, and generation of reset signals for any involuntary operation within the system error or during an over-voltage condition. It provides superior protection against the unexpected power failure, high voltage conditions and permanent latch up conditions. The principle behind the STM706PM6F PMIC-Supervisor integrated circuit is based on its efficient system reset, power sequencing and rechargeable battery backup through a regulated output voltage regulator.
The STM706PM6F PMIC-Supervisor integrates a 4-bit microcontroller which enables it to monitor system parameters and further regulate the output voltage to optimise efficiency. This IC also comes with a range of low-side driver outputs designed to monitor the system voltage and provide reset generation in case of a system failure. It receives power directly from the system power supply and uses a programmable division ratio for generating a standard voltage (3.3V) for the operation of the microcontroller.
The IC also includes highly programmable input/output pins which can be used for controlling the output voltage, generating reset signals and monitoring system voltage levels. The integrated hardware for the STM706PM6F PMIC-Supervisor also includes an internal timer which is used for power sequencing and system resets. The timer is optimised to generate reset signals when the system voltage falls to a certain pre-defined level or during an over-voltage condition.
