Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors, also known as \'electrolytic caps\' or simply \'electrolytics\', are capacitors whose anode electrodes consists of a metal layer that has been oxidized to form a very thin insulating layer. An electrolyte, typically an acid solution in most standard capacitors, permits the passage of electrical current between the electrodes when a voltage is applied across them. As such, electrolytic capacitors provide very high capacitance values in a very small volume, often at a relatively low cost.
