The SY89229UMG is a high performance, low power consumption Clock/Timing Generator, PLL (Phase Locked Loop) Frequency Synthesizer. The IC is used in communications and computing systems requiring an ultra low jitter, low phase noise clock distribution. The SY89229UMG is a low-power, high-speed frequency synthesizer / PLL with an integrated Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). The highly efficient PLL engine is designed to provide high-performance clock generation utilizing minimal frequencies and area.

The SY89229UMG Clock/Timing Generator, PLL Frequency Synthesizer offers a versatile clock generation engine which utilizes low frequency and jitter characteristics to ensure high-quality clock distribution. A variety of sources, such as crystal oscillators, spread spectrum sources, differential outputs, and clock buffers, are supported along with various output frequencies ranging from 100 kHz up to 1.6 GHz. The SY89229UMG supports out-of-band control on each input feed such as PLL API, frequency line API, on-off API, voltage control API, LPF API, and reference API. SY89229UMG’s PLL engine also allows output divider limit control API, as well as phase and frequency balance API.

The SY89229UMG includes Frequency Synthesizers and Clock Distributors, offering a variety of output frequencies, within a frequency range of 100 kHz to 1.6 GHz, with a resolution of 1 Hz. The SY89229UMG can control the frequency of the outputs with high precision, allowing the user to control the frequency of each output individually. The SY89229UMG is also programmable, allowing predetermined patterns and sequences. The SY89229UMG PLL Frequency Synthesizer is also powered with a small form factor and low frequency noise, furthering the user’s ability to generate highly precise and low jitter clocks. Powering the IC is a simple 3.3V process. Furthermore, the IC has a wide operating temperature range, making it ideal for applications operating in harsh environmental conditions.The Clock/Timing Generator, PLL Frequency Synthesizer utilizes a combination of spread spectrum, loop bandwidth, and phase detector frequency to achieve the desired phase noise, offset, and jitter on the output signals. The user can program the phase detector frequency to reach a desirable phase noise performance. Through the integrated phase detector, the IC is able to gain or loose phase to achieve a desired phase relationship with the input signal, adding phase precision to the output and allowing precise frequency tracking of the input signal.

The IC also has a programmable power-down control pin, allowing the user to control when the device would be in an active or low-power state. The IC includes a low-power selector circuit, allowing different levels of power consumption for different operating modes. This feature also enables precise control and allocation of power to each output channel, improving power efficiency and preventing power surges.The SY89229UMG Clock/Timing Generator, PLL Frequency Synthesizer offers a wide range of features to meet the needs of various applications.
