.The SY89429AJC is a clock generator and frequency synthesizer from IDT (Integrated Device Technologies) with the ability to generate an exact cascade of frequency outputs. It also includes a Clock Distribution Register (CDR) that takes either of the frequencies from the PLL and “distributes” the clock output signals by applying divide by 1, 2 or 4 along its output pin. The output frequency can be adjusted through an I2C bus or an external Voltage Control Oscillator (VCO) pin. A Fractional Multiplier Configuration also allows the user to customize the available output frequency, by configuring the Frequency Multiplier between 0.25x and 16x of the input frequency.
The SY89429AJC also provides a non-return-to-zero (NRZ) spread spectrum output. This is useful for minimizing Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), while still providing the same desired frequency. Through the spread spectrum output, the device can output a signal with a lower amplitude, which in turn can reduce the spectral noise around the signal that would be typically caused by EMI radiation. This feature also allows for a tolerance depending upon the output frequency.
To further ensure the precision of its output frequency, the SY89429AJC contains a programmable Digital Lock Detect (DLD). This is used to detect whether the frequency of the PLL output is within the given range as programmed by the user or not. These precise control and monitoring methods make the SY89429AJC suitable for timing-sensitive applications where jitter needs to be minimized.
