Logic - Specialty Logic

SY89316VMI-TR is a three-state, octal buffer/line driver, which provides TTL-compatible output signals and is designed to be used as an interface between the TTL logic, ECL logic or both. SY89316VMI-TR provides an interface capability between devices operating at different logic levels, allowing the user to interface TTL devices to the ECL system, or interface the ECL system to the TTL devices in a single chip. It can also offer a very high fan-out and very low power consumption.

Application field

This product can satisfy various applications in the digital systems, such as; data bus driver, address bus driver and control bus driver in microprocessor system, glue logic in digital signal processing system, signal isolation, line termination and line interface in communication system.

Working principle

The chip is composed of an octal latch, an octal steering logic and an octal output driver.The chip provides an active low enable signal (TLEN). When the TLEN is low, the outputs of the chip generate logic high state. When the TLEN is high, all output pins are in the high impedance state. The active high data (TDI) is synchronized with the input clock signal (TCI) and stored in the latch. Upon the low to high transition of the latch enable signal (TLE), the data loaded into the latch is steered to the output by the steering logic. The outputs of the chip have over-voltage tolerant characteristics that allow interfacing with5V ECL logic.

This device also provides useful features such as output enable control and three-state control capabilities. The output of this device can be controlled by the three output enables (EN_A, EN_B and EN_C). When all these three output enables are low, the output pins are in the active high state, and when any of these three output enables is high, the outputs of this device will be in the high impedance state.

The power dissipation of the chip depends on the output voltage and the number of outputs in active state. The power dissipation of this device under default conditions is lower than the standard SY8253 and SY8254 devices.

The chip can operate at low operating voltage, low operating power and operates in a wide temperature range of-65°C ~ 125°C. It also has a low propagation delay, so it can quickly transmit data. In addition, the chip can provide as high as 50mA drive current with high fan-out capability, providing higher performance and better signal integrity.
