SY89529LTH is a high-performance, quad-output clock generator IC fabricated in a low-cost process, offering excellent power efficiency, extremely low additive jitter, and a dynamic range that meets the requirements of many systems. It is designed to provide clocking solutions for a wide range of applications, including but not limited to network infrastructure, communications, gaming systems, digital signage displays, and consumer applications.

The SY89529LTH consists of four independent frequency synthesizers, a crystal oscillator, and low-pass filters that enable it to provide clean, low jitter clock outputs with adjustable frequency ranges and frequencies up to 250 MHz. Each individual frequency synthesizer is configurable, allowing the output frequency to be adjusted to the exact needs of the application. The flexibility of the SY89529LTH makes it a viable clock source for a wide range of clock applications.

The SY89529LTH has two output performance options, low power or high power. The low power option is compatible with a wide range of system clocks, from 50 MHz to 250 MHz, with an addittive jitter lower than 50 femtoseconds. The high power option provides higher clock frequencies or increased margins for low jitter, with the input frequency limited to up to 250 MHz.

To ensure reliable and repeatable performance, the SY89529LTH utilizes Silicon Laboratories’ proven magnetic core-based PLL integrated circuit (IC) technology, which allows it to cover a wide frequency range with extremely low jitter. The integrated PLL design also offers fast settling time and excellent stability. This reduces the external components required and makes the product more reliable in the long term.

The output is provided using the differential current-mode logic (DCML) standard, which offers benefits when compared to more traditional logic types. The DCML standard offers multiple performance advantages, including lower EMI, improved clocking accuracy, and significantly higher noise immunity.

Further enhancing the performance of the SY89529LTH is the use of an on-die crystal oscillator. This oscillator is adjusted to the exact frequency required to generate the output clock, and provides excellent accuracy and jitter performance. The oscillator can be adjusted to a wide range of frequencies, from 10 MHz up to 300 MHz.

In addition to the clock generator, the SY89529LTH also includes a low-pass filter that is used to reduce the harmonic and other jitter components in the clock signal. This filter can be adjusted to a wide range of cut-off frequencies, allowing the designer to optimize the noise performance of the clock signal.
