Optoisolators - Transistor, Photovoltaic OutputOptoisolators, also known by their alternate names of optocouplers, photocouplers, or opto-isolators, are devices that join two electrical circuits together via light. This creates an opto-isolation barrier between the two circuits. The most commonly used form of optoisolator is a Transistor, Photovoltaic Output (TCET1114). Application Field of TCET1114
TCET1114 optoisolators can be used to transfer signals from one circuit to another, to reduce the risk of short-circuits, and to reduce the amount of power-supply noise. These devices are most often used in applications involving computer peripherals, including digital-input control, switching, and logic. They are also often used in motor controllers, analog-input signal conditioning, and other miscellaneous applications.
Working Principle of TCET1114
The TCET1114 optoisolator works by having a light-emitting diode (LED) on one side, and a photo-transistor on the other side. The LED emits light when a current is passed through it, and this light is detected by the photo-transistor, which then conducts an electrical current. This electrical current is then used to power the other side of the circuit.
The TCET1114 optoisolator is designed to reduce the amount of power-supply noise from one circuit to another. This is done by eliminating any direct electrical connection between the two circuits, and instead using a light signal to bridge the gap. By doing this, any electrical noise in one circuit will not be transferred to the other, thereby increasing signal reliability.
