Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors (AECs) are widely used in both consumer and industrial electronics products. The anode is the positive terminal, and the capacitance increases with voltage. The positive and negative plates are sealed with a polarizable paper, which helps to minimize leakage current.

Sweat soldering is used to attach the leads to the AEC terminals. The leads are tipped with a solder paste that will rapidly solidify when heated, forming a strong, low-resistance connection between the leads and the terminals. This ensures that the capacitor can handle larger amounts of power, and can withstand extreme temperatures.
