PMIC - AC DC Converters, Offline SwitchersTEA1731TS/1,115 is an offline switch-mode power supply (SMPS) controller specially designed for LED lighting applications. It includes an integrated switch with a peak current of up to 1.5A, and a unique low-cost circuit solution for regulating the LED current, which makes it suitable for both mains-powered and battery-operated LED luminaires.The TEA1731TS/1,115 application field is mainly devoted to LED lighting, including mains-powered LED Luminaires with isolated output, LED lighting systems with mains-connected power supply, general power supplies with wide input voltage range, etc. It can effectively reduce the number of external components, improve system efficiency and reduce system cost.The working principle of TEA1731TS/1,115 is as follows: firstly, the primary-side rectifier closes the SCR, then the AC line voltage is input to the primary winding of the power transformer via the SCR, when the SMPS is running, the primary-side rectifier is in the voltage-mode-controlled state. When the voltage is high, it will limit the primary current. When the voltage is low, it will release the energy stored in the inductor of the transformer. Then the MOSFET rectifier converts the secondary- side voltage into the DC voltage. Finally, the integrated switch rectifies the DC voltage and provides the LED current. TEA1731TS/1,115 adopts a standby function, when the mains voltage is lower than a certain value, the controller will automatically switch to the standby state, open the SCR and reduce the standby current. Meanwhile, the standby current monitoring circuit accurately calculates the on-off off-time ratio of the power supply, then adjust the primary side current appropriately.In addition, TEA1731TS/1,115 provides output open-circuit protection, resulting in the system being protected from the possibility of the output being left open by the OEM. This protection function uses the internal error amplifier to sense the output voltage, set a special voltage and current threshold (VTH and CTH), and then safely turns the device off when the output parameter exceeds them.TEA1731TS/1,115 also provides a variety of protection functions, such as voltage stress protection, LED open/short protection, brown out protection, thermal protection and over-load/short-circuit protection, etc. It is equipped with a temperature sensed pin (TSNS) for thermal protection, which monitors the temperature of the controller and Smps circuit and shuts down the device when it exceeds a certain temperature.Overall, TEA1731TS/1,115 a reliable offline switch-mode power supply (SMPS) controller, with integrated high peak current switch, precision LED current regulation, as well as a rich protection feature.
