The THCV220-B is an isolated two-channel control interface module from Texas Instruments. This module features various interface and serializers/deserializers (SerDes) capabilities to enable a variety of primary control and communication interfaces to secondary devices.

The THCV220-B operates in a variety of serial or parallel environments including multi-bit, multi-channel interfaces such as (but not limited to) industrial buses, water/gas valves, current or voltage sensors, position controllers, and power converters with analog/digital control inputs. The module\'s built-in voltage and current level shifting is designed to provide a robust communication interface between the primary and secondary device, while isolating them to reduce system noise, improve system reliability and ensure signal integrity.

The THCV220-B is able to operate in multi-bit and multi-channel serialized environments, such as LiteHub communications and USB (universal serial bus) connections, as well as in parallel environments for applications such as resistance-to-ground detection, input current or voltage monitoring, position control, and power conversion with analog/digital control inputs. In addition, the module is equipped with the automatic switchover feature, which allows the user to switch between serial and parallel configurations depending on application requirements. The module\'s built-in voltage and current level shifting works by isolating the primary and secondary device on two separate channels. The reinforced isolation is achieved by using a combination of power and digital isolation, carrying currents of up to 5 Amp at a voltage range of 5 – 55 VDC. This ensures signal integrity, significantly reduces Erroneous Data and makes the device suitable for use in harsh environments.

The THCV220-B also includes an onboard peripheral controller that allows the user to configure the module’s data serialization, parallelization, and level shifting features. The module also supports various industry protocols such as SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit), System Data Bus, EtherCAT, and PROFINET. In addition, the module supports both unidirectional and bidirectional operations.

In addition to being able to operate in a variety of serial and parallel environments, the THCV220-B is designed to withstand changes in the operating environment. This includes temperature, vibration and shock. All these factors have been rigorously tested in accordance with industrial standard testing requirements, ensuring that the device is robust enough to be used in a wide range of applications.
