The THCV226-B is a family of high-performance deserializers and serializers designed for high-bandwidth applications. It is ideal for backplane applications where data rates need to exceed 2 Gbps due to the large signal integrity margin of the THCV226-B. Additionally, it operates over a wide temperature range.
The THCV226-B provides two independently configurable data paths, that are well suited for signal or data recovery, data format conversion, clock recovery, retiming, and signal replacement. Depending on the application, the THCV226-B can be operated as a serializer, deserializer, retimer, or signal replacer. It can also be used as a flexible signal converter, able to perform bidirectional data transmission between multiple lanes and data rates from 1.0625 Gbps to 3.125 Gbps.
The THCV226-B includes a variety of features such as skew compensation, equilization, CDR bypass, de-skew, and test features, enabling it to support multiple types of data signals. It is parametrically programmable and configurable, offering a level of flexibility not found in other deserializers and serializers. The highly flexible design of the THCV226-B also allows it to be used in a range of different application fields, such as datacom, telecom, broadcast, consumer, and industrial.
The main working principle of the THCV226-B is the transmission and reception of data over dynamic buses. It is capable of receiving data streams at high data rates, such as 2.5Gbps or 3.125Gbps, and transmitting them at up to 1.875Gbps. To transmit and receive data on the bus, the device relies on a clock connection and a data connection. By synchronizing the data connection to the clock connection, data is transmitted and received at the desired rate.
The THCV226-B is designed to provide data rate flexibility and I/O compatibility without sacrificing performance. The device is capable of receiving and transmitting data at speeds of 1.0625Gbps to 3.125Gbps over a simple six-transceiver cable, eliminating the need for differential channel routing. Additionally, the device supports up to six lanes, enabling up to 12-point transmission and reception.
The THCV226-B also supports skew compensation, enabling it to transfer data between multiple serial lanes at different speeds. The device is equipped with an equalizer, a clock and data recovery (CDR) bypass, and a de-skew module. This enables the device to quickly and accurately adjust for ny timing difference between serial lanes, allowing for reliable data transmission.
In addition, the THCV226-B supports test features, allowing for a wide variety of built-in self-test (BIST) scenarios. This reduces the overall costs and complexity associated with device characterization and diagnostics. With test features supported by the THCV226-B, testing can be automated, reducing the time and effort required to characterize the device or diagnose issues.
