TLP13A is one of the popular Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode which is widely used by the electronic circuit designers. It is a fast-acting voltage-clamping device designed to protect vulnerable equipment and even life from the damage caused by transient over and/or under voltages. TLP13A is particularly used in electronic appliances such as computers, peripherals, control systems, household appliances and audio/visual systems. It is also employed for data and telecom systems, moderating the damaging interference from lightning strikes and static discharges.When this diode is subjected to a transient voltage above its minimum Breakdown Voltage, VBR, it breaks over and short circuits the transient voltage, protecting the devices connected to it. After the transient surge has been removed, the diode recovers its initial bias condition, blocking the current between the two input terminals.TLP13A is available in unidirectional as well as bidirectional package designs which are designed to protect one or two lines circuitry respectively. Moreover, it is also available in a low capacitance configuration which helps to maintain signal integrity in high-speed data lines common in telecom and mobile applications. The typical breakdown voltage range for unidirectional package is 5.1 to 190 Volts (V) while for bidirectional package it is 3.3 to 230V. Additionally, the reverse leakage current, when the diode has been subjected to rated VBR, should not exceed 10 μA at 25 °C, while the surge current capacity should be ≥ 1.5 A.The Low capacitance of the TLP13A enables it to provide high speed response to the transients while dissipating minimal energy and having a low clamping voltage at low level transients. The innovative packaging of the device eliminates gluing, welding, or soldering, making it easy to install in circuits. The device provides excellent ESD protection which is further enhanced by using a Zener diode in combination with it.TLP13A has been developed with durable construction, making it perfect for most industrial and commercial applications.
