1. Operating Voltage
The TLV3492AIDCNT comparator is specified for a single 1.8 V to 5.5 V supply (or ±0.9 V to ±2.75 V dual supply) over the -40°C to 125°C temperature range.
2. Input overvoltage protection
The device inputs are protected by electrostatic discharge (ESD) diodes that conduct if the input voltage exceeds the supply by approximately 500 mV. If the input current is limited to 10 mA, transient voltages in excess of 500 mV from the supply can be tolerated. This restriction is easy to implement Small input resistance in series with the input of the comparator.
3. External hysteresis
The comparator inputs are not immune to noise within the specified offset voltage (±15 mV). For noisy input signals, the comparator output will often show multiple switches as the input signal crosses the switching threshold. The typical comparator threshold for the TLV3492AIDCNT is ±15 mV. To prevent multiple switching within the comparator threshold of the TLV3492AIDCNT, external hysteresis must be added by connecting a small amount of feedback to the positive input.

The TLV3492AIDCNT family of comparators has rail-to-rail inputs and outputs at supply voltages as low as 1.8V. Push-pull output stages are the best choice for lower power budget applications and have no breakdown current. Low supply voltages, common-mode input range beyond the rails, and typical supply current of 0.8 µA make the TLV349x family ideal for battery-powered applications operating from a single cell battery.
