The TLV5614IPW is an 8-bit current output Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) that generates an output voltage or current, in the 0-5 Volt and 0-20mA respectively, proportional to an input digital code. An integrated rail-to-rail output amplifier provides scaling from 0 to 5 V. Rated over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, the TLV5614IPW is a Low-power, single 8-bit DAC with a guaranteed output current range from 2.5 to 20mA, typical settling time of 55µs, and low worst-case distortion. In addition, it offers an output enable- and disable- capability.

The TLV5614IPW is well suited for applications requiring high linearity, accuracy and low-voltage operation such as industrial process control, ratiometric sensing, medical instrumentation and telecom systems. Moreover, its low current, high linearity and low jitter output makes it ideally suited for multiplexed data acquisition outputs. The device can be powered with a single voltage supply, +2.7 V to +5.25 V and it requires internal reference decoupling, which allows the maximum flexibility.

The TLV5614IPW integrates a reference buffer, 8-bit DAC, output buffer and R-2R resistor ladder along with a logic select function. The reference buffer amplifies the input reference voltage, which is then fed to the R-2R resistor ladder. The 8-bit DAC amplifies the input digital information, producing an analog voltage or current, which is further amplified by the output buffer circuitry. The current output is proportional to the 2’s complement digital code presented to the input of the DAC. The output enable/disable (OE) and logic select pins can be used to regulate the output of the device. The enable/disable input provides a direct control of the output buffer enabling and disabling the output voltage or current.

The enable/disable input and the logic select pins enable the complete control of the amplifier. When enable/disable input is high the output amplifier is enabled and the current will flow to the load. When logic select pin is high, the output amplifier is disabled, turning off the current flow to the load. The logic select pin provides the main control over the output amplifier, while the enable/disable pin can be used to enable/disable the output amplifier on the fly.

The TLV5614IPW is designed with an input buffer, which allows for higher fidelity and greater noise immunity due to its low input capacitance. The device also features low supply current, low distortion, low output noise and low jitter for applications requiring higher accuracy and resolution. The output slew rate can be controlled by the high-speed shutdown pin, which can be used to subdivide the output voltage or current range.

The TLV5614IPW is ideal for applications such as industrial process control, ratiometric sensing, medical instrumentation and telecom systems. The device is ideal for multiplexed data acquisition systems, featuring its low power, high linearity and low jitter output.
