Digital-to-analog converters, or DACs, are a key component of many systems and applications. The TLV5618AID is a precision, low-power Programmable-Gain Current Output Digital-to-Analog Converter (PGC DAC). The TLV5618AID is designed to improve data acquisition applications with low power, fast settling time, low non-linearity, and low 2.3 MHz gain error.

The TLV5618AID operates over a wide range of supply voltage (2.7V – 5.5V) and programmable gain range (–36 dB to + 36 dB). The current output of the device is programmable between 500 μA and 5 mA. It provides exceptional high precision performance in a wide range of applications and system operating conditions, offering performance benefits over traditional voltage mode DACs including reduced system power, improved speed, and easier wiring.

Output current for the TLV5618AID is programmable in 16 distinct steps, ranging from -500 μA to +5 mA. This output is adjusted by setting 4-bit control lines, which allows for easy and precise output current setting without requiring power consuming potentiometers.

This device allows for fast settling time, with a linear transition at the sampling rate of up to 5 MS/s with a 0.1% settling time of 30 μs. The output impedance is low, allowing the device to drive large loads. The PGC DAC is ideal for data acquisition and portable applications, as it consumes less than 255μA in a single-channel configuration and less than 640μA in a dual-channel configuration at 3V.
