TLV5580IPW has many applications of analog to digital converters (ADC). It is a single-channel, low power, 12-bit Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) designed for portable and battery-powered applications. The TLV5580IPW provides sample rates up to 10 megasamples/s while maintaining low system power consumption. It is also suitable for high voltage and large dynamic range inputs.
The TLV5580IPW includes a differential amplifier (with programmable gain of 1x to 16x) in the front-end and a successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (SAR ADC). The amplifier is usually set to the programmable gain of 1x to preserve signal integrity by minimizing the associated distortion, noise and power consumption. The differential circuit allows the input signal to be from 0V to 16VDC and the common mode range from -8V to +8V.
The TLV5580IPW also features internal self-test function (NO OP), which performs internal calibration and verification tasks without external intervention. The device has low current consumption for extended battery life. The high-resolution 12-bit delta-sigma converter includes a track-and-hold circuit, enable/status flags and reference pins supporting either positive or negative voltage output. The track-and-hold circuit samples the input voltage, while the SAR ADC converts the signal into a 12-bit digital output representing the instantaneous value of the input signal.
