The TPS40222EVM-001demo board has two interleaved peak current-mode control buck converters. Each of the two buck converters is adjustable to operate at varying output voltages and offers up to 2A of current output. The buck converters are isolated with a vertical transformer winding. Since the transformer is only used for galvanic/optical isolation, it is a virtual transformer and does not perform energy conversion. It only provides isolation from the mains.

The main benefit of this topology is that only one primary winding is needed, resulting in lower cost and size.
