TPS43336EVM is a type of evaluation boards used for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. It is designed for off-line Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) using TI\'s DC/DC converter TPS43336. This evaluation board allows engineers to quickly evaluate the performance of the switch mode devices and develop prototype SMPS designs. It is suitable for applications ranging from automotive, consumer, industrial to communications and healthcare markets.The board contains an extremely robust power supply. It uses two-channel dual-phase interleaved boost regulator to provide up to 750W of output power with an efficiency over 96%. It also has an adjustable switching frequency from 100kHz to 500kHz and integrated bootstrap diodes for reverse current protection. The board provides protection features like automatic current limiting and thermal protection.The board uses the smart dimmer and active inrush current control circuit to reduce the stand-by power to less than 150mW. The board can be used with universal as well as wide input voltage range from 7V to 48V. For easy testing, it is also equipped with on-board diagnostic LEDs and an on-board buck-boost converter to supply the control logic and diagnostic features. It also has a comprehensive GUI-based control and monitoring software.The working principle of TPS43336EVM is based on the concept of voltage regulation in order to maintain an output voltage at its desired value. The board utilizes a switching topology to convert a dc power source from the input to constant output power. During the on-time of the switch, the output voltage is raised to the set value while during the off-time, the energy stored in the inductor is released to maintain the output voltage.To ensure an accurate and stable output voltage, the TI TPS433360 controller is implemented to control the switching frequency and to adjust the duty cycle of the switch. The TPS433360 controller is also used to control the active inrush current control circuit. The active inrush current control circuit helps to limit the inrush current to safe levels during start-up and under normal load conditions, saving power and improving efficiency.The TPS43336EVM evaluation board is an excellent tool for engineers to quickly evaluate the performance of the DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS designs. It is designed to be easy to use and provides valuable data on the power efficiency, power quality, safety features and protection design. The board enables engineers to develop and optimize their designs with ease, helping to reduce development time and overall cost.
