The TPS53819EVM-123 evaluation module (EVM) is an isolated adjustable off-line switcher for high peak current applications over an adjustable output of 9V - 22V, with a 5V/3.3V dual-output and total current of 4A. It is designed to evaluate and demo Texas Instruments’ TPS53819 power converter.The application field of the TPS53819EVM-123 is mainly used for evaluation and demonstration of the TPS53819 power converter. It is used for fast and easy evaluation of the devices performance, test demos for applications, and it can even be used to optimize the user’s specific design conditions for their application.
The working principle of the TPS53819EVM-123 is based on the use of the TI Power SWIFT (Switch-Mode Power Topology suitable for Isolated Flyback Transformers) technology. Power SWIFT enables high peak current and is well suited for offline applications using isolated flyback power conversion. The TPS53819EVM-123 provides low cost and low power embedded control solutions for a wide variety of off-line AC/DC and DC/DC applications.
The TPS53819EVM-123 utilizes a state-of-the-art switch mode power supply topology that is designed to operate from a wide range of primary and secondary voltages. It provides an adjustable peak current-mode output voltage control, and features an internal max current limit to help protect against excessive heat build up. The TPS53819EVM-123 also has an adjustable cycle-by-cycle soft-start function to limit inrush current at startup. It utilizes a rugged 20-pin package to minimize board space, and its output can be adjusted in increments of 0.2V up to 22V. In addition, the device features an integrated 1kV isolation scheme and soft-shutdown for improved efficiency.
The Power SWIFT technology used in the TPS53819EVM-123 makes it suitable for applications such as AC/DC power adapters, DC/DC off-line converters, Laptop adaptors, LED driver applications, digital control equipment, industrial process control applications, renewable energy inverters, motor control applications, and home automation products.
