TPS54525PWPR is a programmable step-down DC/DC converter with integrated Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) that integrates Voltage Regulators and DC/DC Switching Regulators. It supports 3-bit VID technology, and can be used to provide precise power without the need for external resistors. Provides up to 2.25A of continuous output current and delivers up to 2.5A of dynamic output current. It is capable of converting input voltage ranging from 4.5V to 19V and delivering adjustable output voltage ranging from 0.6V to 5.5V. The 10-pin TPS54525PWPR primarily offers the following features and benefits:• Programmable output voltage: The voltage selection of the device can be programmed with a simple three bit VID code. By selecting VID code, it can provide precise output power without placing external resistors. It has an adjustable output voltage range of 0.6V to 5.5V.• High efficiency: The TPS54525PWPR can achieve high efficiency, with typical efficiency up to 95%. Its low quiescent current of 45μA allows the system to work at lower power consumption.• Internal power limit: It includes a thermal protection circuit to protect the device from excessive power consumption, and an adjustable over-current protection circuit to protect the device against over-current.• Internal soft-start: The TPS54525PWPR includes a soft-start circuit to reduce in-rush current. It is also suitable for pre-regulating applications. The soft-start time is programmable and adjustable in 6μs steps.• Very small size: It’s small size helps to reduce the PCB area. It can also be placed in a tiny space with a tiny volume.• Built-in active voltage positioning: It supports 3-bit VID technology, making it easy to adjust the output voltage without having to place external resistors.• Low output voltage: The TPS54525PWPR can provide extremely low output voltage when needed.The TPS54525PWPR application field includes power supplies for a wide variety of end products such as medical devices, automotive systems, computer peripheral equipment, and other electronic products. It is ideal for applications that require precise controlled output voltage and high efficiency operation.The working principle of the TPS54525PWPR is based on synchronous buck topology. The device has an internal transistor and an external MOSFET connected to an inductor. The internal transistor is used to turn on and off the external MOSFET, then the output voltage can be adjusted by adjusting duty cycle of MOSFET. When the MOSFET is turned on, the inductor’s current rises, and when it is off, the current decreases, in this way, the output voltage can be controlled.The TPS54525PWPR is an efficient, versatile, and reliable DC/DC switching converter.
