Description
The TPS563300 is a highly efficient, easy-to-use synchronous step-down converter with a wide input voltage range of 3.8 V to 28 V and supports up to 3 A of continuous output current and an output voltage range of 0.8 V to 22 V. The device uses a fixed-frequency peak current control mode for fast transient response and good line and load regulation. The optimized internal loop compensation function eliminates the need for external compensation components over a wide output voltage and operating frequency range. The pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode maximizes light-load efficiency. The low quiescent current feature helps extend battery life under low-power operating conditions. The device also features a spread spectrum function to help reduce EMI noise. The device provides comprehensive protection features, including over- temperature protection (OTP), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), cycle-by-cycle over-current limit, and under-voltage protection (UVP) with hiccup mode. The device is available in a small SOT583 (1.6 mm × 2.1 mm) package with a pin pitch of 0.5 mm and an optimized pin arrangement for easy PCB layout and good EMI performance.

Design formula
1. Output voltage setting:
- Vout = 0.8V × (1 + Rtop/Rbot)
- Recommended Rbot=10kΩ, Rtop=(Vout/0.8-1)×10k
2. Inductor selection:
- L ≥ (Vin_max - Vout) × Vout / (Vin_max × 0.3 × Iripple × fsw)
- Typical value: 4.7μH (saturation current>5A)
