TPS62000EVM-168 is an evaluation module board designed to give designers an opportunity to quickly evaluate and optimize TI’s TPS62000 boost voltage regulator. The board is suitable for test and evaluation in the applications of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. This evaluation module board module helps to quickly evaluate the TPS62000’s performance and its intended features. The evaluation board has additional features to provide engineers with a development platform for their designs.

The TPS62000 provides a fixed-frequency, current-mode, hystere-sis-control boost converter with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 60V. It provides up to 3A output current and features a 50ns differential MOSFET turn-on time suitable for high-frequency operation.

TPS62000EVM-168 provides an adjustable output voltage of 10V to 36V with a high-peak output current of up to 6A. The board is set up to deliver up to 600mA at 18V at a fixed switching frequency of 1.125MHz. A jumper is provided on the board to switch between a low-side voltage-mode control, which is suitable for converters with low-side switch topology, and a high-side current-mode control, which is suitable for converters with high-side switch topology.

The onboard bypass switch can disconnect the boost converter from the output when not in use or when a short-circuit occurs. The TPS62000EVM-168 also comes with an EPAD power diode and a bypass capacitor (20uF) to keep the gate of the MOSFET high during start up and the activation of the bypass switch. The power MOSFET and diode of the evaluation board are easily replaceable for designers who wish to test their own components.
