Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitor that uses an electrolyte impregnated into the inter-electrode dielectric. This type of capacitor is most commonly associated with the "electrolytic can" style packages, which are recognizable by their cylindrical shape and wide diameter. The capactior is composed of two aluminum foil electrodes, with a piece of mica sheet separating them and also serving as an insulating layer. In between the two layers of electrodes, an electrolyte is impregnated which conducts the current between them. The TVX2C010MAD is a typical aluminum electrolytic capacitor, and is used in many different applications.
