Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electrical devices used to store electrical energy and control the flow of electrical current between two or more conductors. They are available in different shapes and sizes for various applications and are used in many common electronic components such as power supplies, amplifiers, power inverters, and motor controllers. The most common type of capacitor used in these applications is the TVX2V2R2MAD.
The TVX2V2R2MAD capacitor utilizes a tantalum pentoxide thin film as the dielectric material and is constructed mainly of aluminum and electrolyte. The electrolyte provides an electrical path between the two electrolytic plates which store the charge. The layers of the TVX2V2R2MAD are separated by a small air gap and a thin layer of plastic material which acts as insulation. The most common application fields for the TVX2V2R2MAD are in DC/DC converters, voltage regulators, and audio amplifiers.
