Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
An Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor, commonly known as Electrolytic, is a type of capacitor which contains an electrolyte of Magnesium Oxide or some other material usually Paraffin Wax, as the third layer between two aluminum foil plates. The electrolyte acts as an insulator while the aluminum foil plates act as conductors of electricity. The capacitive property of electrolytic capacitors means they can store and release energy when the voltage across them changes,usually in the form of a quick charge and discharge cycle.
The TVX2C4R7MAD Capacitor is an Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +95°C. It has a rated capacitance of 470μF, a rated voltage of 50 volts and is tolerable to a rate of -20%/ +10% deviation from the rated capacitance. It has a long shelf life of up to 5 years and is a Non-Polar device.
Application Field and Working Principle
The TVX2C4R7MAD Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor has many practical applications including usage as a filter capacitor in an AC to DC power supply converter, coupling capacitor in an active filter circuit, as an energy storage capacitor in a switched-mode power supply, and in a variety of power management devices such as solar inverters, AC to DC converters, and DC to DC converters. The capacitor can also be used in audio circuits, switching power supplies and other power management applications.
The working principle of the TVX2C4R7MAD Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor is based on the fact that an electric field is created by electricity flowing through two plates, with one plate being positively charged and the other being negatively charged. This electric field produces what’s called a capacitance, which is the ability to store energy in the form of an electric field when a charge is applied. In the case of the TVX2C4R7MAD capacitor, when a voltage is applied across its leads, an electric field is created between the two aluminum foil plates, thus allowing it to store energy.
As soon as the voltage across the capacitor is removed, the energy is discharged from it, typically in the form of a quick rush of current. This happens because of the fact that the capacitance of the capacitor has diminished due to the electrical charge that had been stored in it earlier.
