< html>< head>Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are fixed with two polar conductors inserted through axial-leads or snap-in bushings, in which aluminum foil is coated with a film of oxidized aluminum formed in a cylinderical cell structure. A UBT1C222MHD8TN aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of a number of polarized-electrolytic cells connected in series to increase capacitance and rating. The oxide film is the dielectric and on the negative electrode, a liquid electrolyte acts as an ionic bridge connecting the oxide particles to the positive electrode.
Applications of UBT1C222MHD8TN Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
The UBT1C222MHD8TN aluminum electrolytic capacitors with high ratings are mainly used in dc-dc power supplies, power factor correction circuits and inverters. These aluminum electrolytic capacitors can also be used in various audio-frequency applications such as tone and volume control. They are also used in switch-mode power supply (SMPS) and car radios. The capacitors are also preferred for resonant circuit applications such as surge suppressors, low and high-frequency filters and single-phase suppression coils.
Working Principle of UBT1C222MHD8TN Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
When a voltage is applied to a UBT1C222MHD8TN aluminum electrolytic capacitor, the oxide film acts as the dielectric and the electrons from the negative electrode (cathode) are repelled and forced through the electrolyte onto the positive electrode (anode). This allows for electric current to be stored as electrical energy for a short period of time. The capacitor must be charged and discharged for proper operation.
The electrical activation process is reversible if no mechanical or electrochemical effect is initiated. When the electric field between the two plates is removed, the electrons start to move back to the negative plate. As the capacitor discharge, the oxide film on the negative plate gets thinner, and lowers the capacitance, eventually leading to failure.
When a UBT1C222MHD8TN aluminum electrolytic capacitor is used in a switching power supply system or audio amplifier, it is necessary to add a snubber circuit to reduce the transient voltage ripple. In addition, a sufficient amount of current leakage is necessary for the capacitor to function properly.
