UC2842BD1 is a DC-DC switching controller widely used in PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits). As a DC-DC converter, the UC2842BD1 continuously monitors the output voltage of the system and modulates the pulses of the power Mosfets switch in order to accurately maintain the voltage at the desired level.

This device features a complete start-up system, fast response time and excellent transient behaviour. It offers a low-cost alternative for applications with low power consumption. It is suitable for automatic voltage regulators, switch-mode power supplies, LED drivers and DC-DC switching converters.

The input voltage of the UC2842BD1 is 10V to 26V. The minimum switching frequency is 0.1kHz while the maximum frequency is 500kHz. This device has a wide range of regulated voltages that can be set from 0.8V to 18V.

The UC2842BD1 features two internal current sense amplifiers for supply current and switch-voltage amplitude control. An internal ramp compensator and built-in voltage feedback loop ensures a nearly flat gain bandwidth of 1MHz and a low response time of 5μs. The UC2842BD1 includes multiple proprietary protection features such as: over temperature protection, current limit protection and over voltage protection.

The UC2842BD1 can be configured via external resistors: an external feedback divider, current sense resistor and a frequency selection resistor. An external cycle-by-cycle current limit circuit can be added.

The UC2842BD1 can be controlled by an external detection signals or the Voltage Reference Pin (Vref). If the external signal is applied, the device operates as a voltage-mode controller, otherwise it works in a current-mode.

The device has low-power sleep mode that can be enabled by the RESET pin. The shutdown reduces the quiescent current to 100nA, thus allowing for power savings.

Additionally, the device has both synchronous and asynchronous operation modes and a wide range of operating temperatures from -40°C to +85°C.
