UC3825BNG4 is a fixed-frequency current-mode PWM controller designed for off-line and DC-to-DC converter applications. This device is an improved version of the UC3825, offering an adjustable frequency of up to 150kHz, increased gate drive capability, and improved rise/fall times.The UC3825BNG4 also offers an improved input feed-forward path, giving a better response to input transients. The UC3825BNG4 is available in an 8-pin plastic SOIC.
Application Field
UC3825BNG4 is mainly used for offline switches and DC-to-DC converters. It is extremely versatile, being suitable for use in a wide variety of applications, such as in off-line converters, isolated converters and pulse-width modulation (PWM) applications. It is especially suitable for switch-mode power supplies that require low power dissipation, high peak current and high precision current-mode control.
The UC3825BNG4 can also be used in battery charger applications, and in applications such as motor controllers, AC-DC and DC-DC converter switch-mode power supplies. It is suitable for use in both single and multiple output systems, such as switched capacitor inverters, switch mode rectifiers and non-isolated DC-DC converters.
Working Principle
The UC3825BNG4 uses a fixed-frequency current-mode PWM operation to control the output voltage. The current-mode PWM control allows for the easy estimation of the core power losses, resulting in decreased power dissipation and improved efficiency. By having the ability to detect and monitor the output current, the device can minimize power losses, regulate the output voltage more accurately, and achieve wide load transient responses.
In order to ensure stable operation, the UC3825BNG4 features a wide range of protection features. It has both an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and an over-voltage protection (OVP). It also has an active over-current protection (OCP) circuit and a frequency fold-back circuit for overload protection.
