The UC3835N’s pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode is controlled by an internal comparator that compares an internally generated triangle waveform to the get chopped by an analog voltage into a variable duty cycle pulse-width modulated signal. The comparator is monitored by an internal oscillator, which sets the on-time of the PWM output. The PWM mode is used to regulate power by varying the triangular waveforms’ frequency. This mode can be used at higher voltage supply ratings to manage high power applications, providing improved switching efficiency and considerably less power dissipation.
