The UC3875DWPTR is an offline switch-mode Power Supply (SMPS) control IC which is designed for high power applications. It provides improved performance, higher integration, and reduced total solution cost. The UC3875DWPTR generates Power MOSFET gate signals for controlling Push-Pull, Forward, and Flyback converter topologies.

Application Field

The UC3875DWPTR can be used in a wide range of applications such as LED lighting, adapter, charger, and switching power supply (SMPS) including offline and AC-DC converters. The device is ideal for high-power applications ranging from 10W to 500W.

For LED lighting applications, the device can be used with either buck or boost topologies. The internal logic of the UC3875DWPTR ensures smooth operation with no additional components for current and voltage regulation. The device operates in pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode, which is suitable for high-power applications, as well as quasi-resonant (QR) and fixed frequency.

The UC3875DWPTR can be used with other ICs, such as the UC3884A, UC3885 and UC3840A, in order to provide enhanced results. Working Principle

The UC3875DWPTR employs a full-bridge topology featuring n-channel and/or p-channel Power MOSFETs (FETs) and an auxiliary winding, allowing for high efficiencies. This topology provides two-switch current and voltage regulation, with minimal use of external components. The device operates at fixed frequencies up to 500kHz and can be configured for Push-Pull, Forward and Flyback converters.

The UC3875DWPTR features a powerful internal oscillator, allowing for adjustable switching frequencies. The device also incorporates an active slope compensation feature to reduce the effects of EMI and improve efficiency. Additionally, the device can be tuned for improved harmonic performance.
