The UC3825ANG4 is a high performance monolithic power switch with a built-in pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, designed for off-line and dc–to–dc converter applications, providing high performance and low power dissipation.

The UC3825ANG4 is capable of regulating synchronous–rectified as well as diode–rectified output voltages, allowing single−ended or full−bridged topologies. Its output may be synchronously−rectified without the need of an additional rectifier.

The UC3825ANG4 is available in an 8-lead SOIC package, ideal for a variety of applications such as telecommunication equipment, industrial devices and charging systems.

The UC3825ANG4 is used as a PWM controller in off-line and DC–to–DC converter systems, and features high performance and low power dissipation. Working Principle:

The UC3825ANG4 works using a proprietary mixed-signal design, allowing it to provide a variety of features. It includes an internal error amplifier, as well as a high-speed comparator and control logic. These features enable the UC3825ANG4 to provide precise PWM regulation with minimal over-voltage or under-voltage conditions.

The error amplifier senses the output voltage of the converter, and compares it to an internal reference voltage. The output of the error amplifier is then used to compare to a triangular wave generated by an internal oscillator, and set the duty cycle accordingly. The UC3825ANG4 also includes an adaptive off-time control circuit, which ensures that the switching frequency remains constant even when the output voltage is changing.

The UC3825ANG4 also includes current limit protection, which is enabled by a UVLO circuit. This ensures that the power MOSFETs are not subject to excessive current, and also provides overload protection, which allows the device to detect fault conditions and shut down the circuit before excessive current flow damages the device.
