Working Principle
UCC25600DRG4 features high-speed operation up to 500 kHz which requires an external highly precise external inductive feedback circuit. The main purpose of the external inductive feedback network is to provide an independent feedback voltage that is proportional to the output voltage of the DC-DC converter. When the output voltage of the converter falls below a certain threshold, the feedback voltage increases and triggers the pulse width modulation (PWM) stage, causing the converter to increase its output voltage. On the other hand, when the output voltage of the converter is above the threshold, the feedback voltage decreases and triggers the PWM stage, causing the converter to decrease its output voltage accordingly.
The speed of the PWM control cycle is determined by an external compensation capacitor and resistor. This capacitor and resistor form an RC circuit that is connected to the two PWM inputs. When the voltage drop across the capacitor reaches a certain threshold, the oscillator is triggered and the cycle begins. During the period of time that the PWM is triggered, the voltage on the output of the converter is regulated until the voltage across the compensation capacitor reaches the threshold voltage.
