The UCC28050DR is a hybrid single-chip Power Factor Correction (PFC) controller integrated circuit (IC) which operates in both a single-stage Boost PFC and a quasi-resonant zero-voltage transition (ZVT) PFC. It is part of Texas Instruments’ Universal Quasi Resonant (UQR) family of power factor correction controllers, which extend the benefits of ZVT PFC to the full range of regulated and unregulated dc-dc converters. The controller also provides protection against output over-voltage and under-voltage, in order to protect the load from excessive voltage levels.In DCM operation, the controller provides control of the maximum on-time and the resonant frequency, and it also offers both primary and secondary soft-start and overload protection features. The UCC28050DR is capable of load-dump recovery, and of maintaining a constant output voltage when the input voltage varies.
